Did he shave his head?
I’ve calmed down somewhat……but then another Korean article would come out, or I would read some stupid comment and then go ape-shit again. I don’t think the Korean editors of these articles understand the proper usage of quotation marks. Han Geng didn’t directly say a lot of the things that they’re quoting him on.
I’m going to use this opportunity to rant. Gengfans are pretty used to the media putting words in Han Geng’s mouth by now, but it’s been a long time since it’s been this damaging. News about him on Korean news sites have actually been very positive these past couple of months. I know a lot of fans tend to use AKP or even other Korean-English entertainment news sites as a gauge for how much exposure Han Geng is getting in Korean entertainment media, but they’re pretty selective about which Korean articles about him to translate and release. Perhaps starting from around the time he won at the EMAs and all the way through the success of So Young and the casting in Transformers, Korean news sites have actually been keeping up with his updates and publishing pretty nice articles in Korean about him. They even write about random things like his rare selcas and weibo posts. He’s even been ranking within the top-10 on Korean search engines lately. Everything was nice, and then all of a sudden, BAM. These grossly mistranslated and abridged articles are published to present him in a bad light.
On the one hand, haters gonna hate. But, it’s just really frustrating how this will increase already-high racial tensions between China and Korea, and just tarnish Han Geng’s reputation further to common folk in Korea. There are a lot of people who don’t really side either way, but will believe the gossip because they don’t have enough of a stake in the matter to go seek out the truth. Even people he has worked with in the past might believe that he has changed….and it’s this particular aspect that’s a bit painful for me to think about.
My thoughts exactly. There’s always gonna be haters and people who just don’t want to believe that he’s a good person, even when we show them proof that they’re wrong. It’s their loss, but what annoys me so much is the media. It’s their job to give people the right information, and they can’t even freaking do it right. Is it so difficult to look up what he actually said, instead of making shit up, and throwing in some quotes here and there without the full story behind them? They’re helping spreading the already existing hatred towards Han Geng in Korea, but because of Allkpop & other English-Korean sites, they spread it to international fans as well. It pains me that many people thinks he’s selfish, greedy, etc. when he’s the complete opposite. And like you said, even people who he’s worked with might believe the articles rather than Han Geng himself, we’ve seen that happen before. It pisses me off that people so easily fall for the media’s trick to spread gossip. Ugh /so done.

At the end of SMTown Seoul, they let some international fans onto the stage as a special thank you. Sooyoung decided to spark up a conversation with one of the fans and asked her who she was at SMTown for. The fan replied that she loved all SM artists, including Girls’ Generation. But when Sooyoung asked who the fan’s favorite was, she said DBSK’s Yunho, so Sooyoung walked the fan over to Yunho and introduced them to each other.
